Aldersly celebrated its 100th anniversary with a lively dinner dance in San Rafael on Saturday, Dec. 3 with residents, board members, staff, donors and community members in attendance. State Sen. Mike McGuire issued a proclamation recognizing Aldersly on its 100th anniversary and thanking the senior community for its service, and Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a congratulatory letter. Christina Markus Lassen, ambassador of Denmark to the United States, issued a proclamation thanking Aldersly for the many contributions it has made for the care of older people, presented by Danish Consul General Jesper Kamp.

Board President Peter Schakow was honored for his 15 years of service, followed by toasts, dancing and a festive atmosphere. Event chairs were Lizette Burtis, Paul Castro and Nikki Cavalier, and Per Caroe and Denise Andresen. The San Rafael High School Varsity Coed Cheer Team provided volunteers for the evening.

The event raised nearly $100,000 for the San Rafael-based nonprofit to support residents who outlive their plans and financial resources, and those facing dementia and other memory challenges, through Aldersly’s CARE and Memory Wellness Funds. For more information, visit aldersly.org.
