Marselisborg Expansion Grand Opening!

Welcome to Marselisborg, Aldersly’s exciting new expansion! Named after Marselisborg Castle in Denmark, this momentous addition includes 35 impeccably designed Independent Living apartments, the Mortensen's 115 Lounge, and a new dining experience, Cafe Vin og Brød — all inspired by the Danish notion of hygge

The opening was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebratory toast, and remarks by Peter Schakow, Aldersly’s Chairman of the Board, and Karen Strolia, President and CEO of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, as well as several residents. More than 100 residents, family members, local officials, and community partners attended to celebrate the Marselisborg Expansion, including Vice Mayor Maribeth Bushey.

Aldersly’s Executive Director, Mike Sharkey, shared a few words: “Marselisborg represents the next chapter in Aldersly’s long and proud history of providing a warm, connected community for older adults. We’re honored to celebrate this milestone alongside our residents and the partners who helped bring this vision to life.”

Residents have already started moving in, and are finding a warm welcome. “The change of energy is wonderful,” said Aldersly resident Pat Russell. “The new residents are lovely and fit right in. The influx of new people and new ideas is enlivening.”

We look forward to this new chapter of our community’s 100-year history!
